Thank you all for the support! The climb was an amazing experience! You can see the latest post and photos here: http://blog.thomsonsafaris.com/kilimanjaro/climb-kilimanjaro-rachel-post-5-summit-success

Jill, the altitude was definitely a challenge, and I’m so glad I took a longer route and trained for the climb - it really paid off! Take a look at the blog post for more thoughts on the trek, and I’ll send you an email as well.

For all you soon-to-be trekkers… best of luck and enjoy the experience!

On summit day, especially, be sure to pack your positive attitude in your daypack! Kilimanjaro puts your physicality AND your mental fortitude to the test. You can do it! Good luck, Rachel!

Good Luck Rachel! I am considering a solo climb for my 40th birthday Feb. 2013. My husband and friends have NO desire to attempt to summit so I am anxiously trying to decide if I should or shouldn't. I will be reading your BLOGS, looking for insight & making a final decision on if I will be climbing solo in Feb.
