You can check the daily cloud cover on the NASA MODIS Serengeti website:
http://rapidfire.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/subsets/?subset=Serengetti

Each day, the real-time feed will show the visible wavelength images over the Serengeti from two NASA satellites.

Terra flies at 10:30 local time.
Aqua flies at 13:30 local time.

On many days, you can see little puffy clouds at 10:30 blow up into wide-ranging thunderstorms by 13:30.

Other times, when a frontal system moves through, the diurnal cycle is disrupted.

Before our family trip, I checked this website daily with my daughter. It helped get her psyched for the trip, and taught her what kind of weather to expect.
